Landscape Architecture is the art and practice of designing the outdoor environment in the public realm, such as parks, high streets, or exterior spaces around public buildings. At Creative Exterior Solutions Ltd we provide over 20 years experience in the Landscape Architecture and construction industry, with a mixture of international experience gained through projects undertaken.
Experiencing different cultures, approaches to design and construction, and materials used, has harnessed us into an open minded and creative orientated consultancy. Whatever exterior project and stage you are at, whether it’s for a full planning application for an external design, or to improve an existing landscape, our philosophy is to offer fresh ideas, inspire, and enhance all projects.
Stage 1
Concept & Preparation
Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is bound to be failure.

Let’s get your project off on the right foot. Planning is essential to any project, and realising your vision, incorporating legal requirements, we can direct you through the preliminary stages. We typically produce sketches, boards, 3D visualisations and work with you and/or your consultant team, which is an ongoing process until we arrive at a successful solution. This could include:
- Rendered concept sketches
- 3D visualisation and sections
- Schedule and budget planning
- Public consultation boards
Stage 2
Planning Applications
We provide consultancy services throughout planning, presentations to council, and meeting representation. We provide comprehensive Landscape Planning drawings, specifications, and supporting documents for most external realm planning submissions. Example documents could be:
- Design and Access Statements
- Presentation material
- Technical Planning Drawings (landscape masterplan, planting plans, sections/3D visualisations, hardscape details)
- LVIA
- Management Plans
- Bonding estimates
Stage 3
Tender & Pricing
Depending on how your project is procured, we offer full Tender consultation or standard pricing documents. Whether you are a D&B contractor, we can undertake pricing documents that suit your project. Typically this could include:
- Tender set-up, invitation to tender, and tender reports
- Pre-construction estimates
- Tender Drawings (more detailed than planning, can be accurately priced and built from)
- Schedule of quantities or Bill of quantities
- Specification and standard pricing documents
Stage 4
Construction Administration
We provide consultancy services throughout the construction process. A brief summary is shown below, but please contact us for a project specific service you require:
- Construction drawings and specification (same documents as Tender, with addendums included)
- Contract preparation
- Construction Administration: meetings, payment certificates, PC certificates, SI’s
- Site inspections
- Site inspections, RFI response, and CA assistance
Stage 5
Arboricultural
Require an Arborist survey or drawing, or are you an Arborist looking for technical arborist drawings? We work with registered Arborists who undertake site assessments, tree surveys, and tree works in accordance with BS 5837. Creative Exterior Solutions can manage this process and produce comprehensive drawings illustrating:
- Root protection areas
- Tree numbers
- Tree protective fencing
- Recommendations on the implications on design and detailing as a result of trees
Stage 6
Maintenance
At Creative Exterior Solutions Ltd we believe maintenance can be just as important as the design. Often the original intent gets misunderstood by a maintenance team, box cutting shrubs, poorly pruning trees, or sand completely pressure washed from paver joints leaving them unsafe and unstable. However, we can help with services such as:
- Preparing a maintenance contract, and administering the maintenance team
- Management and maintenance report and schedule
- Plant inventory and replacement report
- Review and advice on damaged hardscape areas, landscape structures, or water features (in coordination with a competent sub-consultant)
